Photography studios are baaaaack!
It has been a hot minute (ie: pandemic) since in-person photography sessions have felt like an exciting collaboration rather than an anxiety-inducing trial. I am incredibly thankful that there are now (FINALLY) enough protective factors in place, (in British Columbia, at least), for photographers to safely continue with sessions in the photography studio.
Branding, baby!
One thing that this extended time of isolation and uncertainty has seemingly brought to many people, across industries, is a rejuvenated sense of purpose. I love how many business owners have booked photography services to help them promote new ventures- from podcasts to talent agencies- that have been born out of this crazy time. I also admire how many creatives have used editorial photography to engage with their audience and guide them to a new community space.
Gina Harms, a rising comedic talent in Vancouver, is regularly featured on promotional materials for upcoming shows and in local magazines. A headshot would work just fine in these cases, but why not take advantage of those opportunities to communicate your vibe?

Nothing excited me more as a photographer than helping people get a photo that can help define and sell them to their ideal clientele. I find my greatest success with this when faithfully adhering to the David Alan Harvey quote "Don't shoot what it looks like. Shoot what it feels like." People will remember a feeling.
